Indifferent West by Daniel Mirer | March 2021

For our first exhibition at Republiek Gallery we collaborated with the esteemed Elliott Gallery to show Daniel Mirer’s “Indifferent West,” a humorous and thought-provoking survey of a landscape at once kitsch, iconic and monumental in scope.

In this series, photographer Daniel Mirer unpicks invented images of the American West, exploring how cultural figures like the Lone Ranger and Marlboro Man have come to lay rest in the collective unconscious of American identity. Mirer’s series documents these mythic models of Americana, the tourist institutions which perpetuate it, and the histories which challenge it.
