Becoming a mum is hard. We mostly hear about sleepless nights, not the profound identity shift that accompanies becoming a mother. “I didn’t want to be a Mum” a series by French photographer and filmmaker Sophie Ebrard is about telling women it’s ok not to be ok with motherhood. A touching, brutally honest and intimate story about motherhood.
The multisensory exhibition incorporates diaries, sound recordings, scent installations and a series of video works alongside Ebrard’s stunning photography. In tandem with this exhibition, Republiek Gallery hosted a series of online Q&As with Ebrard, offering guests and clients a wonderful opportunity to further discuss her experiences and practice.
